Who does what
One provider can sell the whole journey and subcontract its execution. The company that moves the goods, the company that arranges the move, and the party responsible under an agreement may be different.
Who owns the goods? The sales contract determines title. Possession, paying freight, acting as importer, or using DAP/DDP does not by itself establish ownership. Equipment may be owned, leased, or subcontracted independently.
